Due to continued growth and several new product development projects, they are now looking to strengthen their R&D team with an experienced Embedded Electronics Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys working across both firmware and hardware, wants genuine technical ownership, and is looking for a role where they can influence architecture, product direction and engineering best practice.

The Role

As Senior Embedded Electronics Engineer, you’ll work across the full product development lifecycle, from concept and architecture through to firmware development, board bring-up, testing, production support and continuous improvement.

You’ll play a key role in designing and developing reliable, real-time embedded systems, supporting hardware validation, leading technical design decisions and mentoring junior engineers within the team.

  • Configure and optimise RTOS components including scheduling, memory pools and ISRs
  • Carry out board bring-up, bootloader development, power-mode configuration and hardware debugging
  • Support schematic development, PCB layout and hardware validation
  • Ensure designs meet security, reliability and EMI/EMC requirements
  • Lead design reviews, risk assessments and technical problem-solving activity
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practice across the R&D team
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, production and technical support teams
  • Help improve CI/CD, testing and embedded development processes

Skills and Experience Required

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related discipline
  • Around 7+ years’ experience in an electronics or embedded engineering role
  • Strong C/C++ embedded firmware development experience
  • Experience with embedded toolchains such as GCC, IAR or Keil
  • Good knowledge of ARM Cortex-M, ESP32, NXP Kinetis, STM32 or similar platforms
  • Experience working with RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS
  • Strong understanding of real-time constraints, timing, memory management and low-power design
  • Experience with bootloaders, board bring-up and hardware debugging
  • Good understanding of analogue and digital circuits, schematics and PCB design
  • Experience with Altium or similar schematic capture/CAD tools
  • Knowledge of secure coding, encryption and embedded cybersecurity principles
  • Experience with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, Azure DevOps or Jira
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks and automated test systems
  • Practical soldering, prototyping and hardware test/debugging skills

  • STM32, STM32CubeMX, System Workbench, Arduino, mbed or PSPICE
  • RS-232, RS485, SPI, I2C, USB, CAN Bus, TCP/IP, BLE, Wi-Fi or Ethernet
  • JTAG, flash programming, bootloader development or encryption
  • C#, Python, SQL, Bash scripting or Windows BAT scripting
