The Relationship

With a working relationship that goes back more than 5 years, this is an opportunity to look at one of our most important Midlands customer relationships from the perspective of our current contact - Head of Software Development.  We'll look at the key attributes that are valued when recruiting into this sector and find out a little more about why we've been working so well together for so long!

How long have you been working with Applause IT?

Since 2019

What type of roles have Applause IT partnered on and why do you choose to partner with agencies on these roles?

Focused primarily on Software Engineering roles as historically we’ve really struggled to recruit high calibre candidates via traditional routes. Having Applause IT on board gives us a far more tailored and personalised experience in directly matching potential candidates to our required skill sets.

In general, what are the most important features you look for from your agency partners?

A combination of an understanding of what we’re trying to achieve, coupled with fair costs.

With the last question in mind, can I ask; what is it about our service that you like about working with Applause IT?

A fairness in conducting business with us as related to costings, alongside responsiveness and an understanding of our goals and the sorts of candidates we are searching for.

What's one of the main advantages you get working alongside a talent partner like Applause?

A partner that understands the regional market.

From our perspective

This is what our specialist in open source software engineering, Rebecca Sherriff, has to say about her recent experience collaborating with Warwick Business School on their technical hiring needs.

Having worked with Warwick Business School since the end of last year, we have had both a challenging and exciting experience assisting them in building out their software engineering and application teams. When they came to us with their most recent hiring project, they had a goal of creating an agile, user-friendly platform to enhance the learning experience of students and staff at the school, which these new hires played a pivotal role within.

Having trialled an internal approach first, they struggled to find candidates through traditional routes who had worked across all aspects of the software development lifecycle, which are typically more niche skillsets to recruit. With our focus on candidate regeneration and grasp of regional markets, we were able to make a few tweaks to the process which helped to secure the talent they were looking for.

Working with such a highly reputable education provider enabled applicants the chance to learn new skills and make a positive impact within the education sector, making the hiring process more informed and presenting an opportunity that was genuinely exciting to our candidates. These kinds of roles are always the most enjoyable to work on!
